RAM speed of HP ProLiant MicroServer N40L for Fedora 30 Server

According to the user manual of HP ProLiant MicroServer N40L :
    http://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1017493506.pdf
    On Page 47 :
"Use only HP supported unbuffered ECC DDRIII DIMM in 1 GB, 2 GB or 4GB capacities (Up to 800 MHz)."

This ageing server has 1x2 GB 800 MHz from the factory.
I would like to replace with 2x4 GB, but I can find only higher speed of 1333 MHz.
Will Fedora 30 Server have the problem with higher speed than 800 MHz ?

1.33 MHz isn't faster than 800 MHz - suspect typo.

Going out on a limb because I really don't know - I'd tend to think the faster memory MAY work for you, but the system is only capable of 800 MHz so that's the fastest performance for the system.

    - ANYONE with the knowledge?
    Change - the only constant.

Yes faster memory should work and just clock down to the maximum supported system speed by design. That said you can get the odd incompatibility but it should normally work. Make sure you the spec for the new RAM says ECC (Error corrected).

hard to say, ive never used that particular system but theres a chance it will detect it as unsupported hardware. On a traditional desktop it would just clock down to what the CPU supports (my 1600 MHz sticks clock down to 1333 on my older desktop). but ive used other proliant products and they can be finicky.

    Hello rexrf.

    on the specification tab:

    Memory
    Standard memory: 2 GB
    Maximum memory: 8 GB
    Memory slots: 2 DIMM slots
    Memory protection: Unbuffered ECC
unbuffered ecc basically means registered will not work.
