    how to auto-generate /boot/loader/entries for grub2-mkconfig?

    After upgrading to Fedora 30, I find that grub2-mkconfig no longer generates grub.cfg with linux entries, but uses entries in /boot/loader/entries. Well, I accidentally deleted the entries.

    How do I re-generate entries inside /boot/loader/entries? I think there is an actual command that kernel update runs that populates that directory, but I don't know what that is. Some search shows grubby, but not sure if that's the right tool to generate entries from scratch.

    For now, I set GRUB_ENABLE_BLSCFG=false so grub2-mkconfig can re-generate linux entries in grub.cfg, but I would eventually want to use BLS. It should also generate menu entries for other boot partitions.

    Ok, I managed to create one new entry using grubby --add-kernel=/boot/vmlinux-5.1.5-300.fc30.x86_64 --title Fedora

    But I'd like to know how to generate all entries as if updating to a new kernel without creating each entry one by one for each installed kernel and also for other boot partitions, rescue entry, etc. in one shot.

    Hi,

    those entries are generated by kernel-install script. You can run something like:

    $ /bin/kernel-install add 4.4.0-83.el8.ppc64le /lib/modules/4.4.0-83.el8.ppc64le/vmlinuz

    This script will create the entry in /boot/loader/entries
