Trying to get Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCE to work on Fedora 30

I really want to install the proper drivers for this PCIe WiFi card by Rosewill ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ), but the previous forum posts are not helpful in helping me figure out what I need to do. Specifically, this ( https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showt...-RNX-AC1900PCE ) does not help me because I cannot even install those drivers without a million other conditions and consecutive steps I cannot begin to understand. THIS post: ( https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...threadid=45094 ) does not work because ./configure does not even work at all and neither do the other commands after extraction. I just need a solid answer. What do I need to do to get this driver to work for my hardware on my system (which I know exists because it has worked on Solus and they had the broadcom-sta-common drivers in their repositories)? Thanks.

    Hello mematusz.

I will start from the end for you see that image.

So you see that it works right?!

Now look in you Software Center tab /Software Repositories/Enable the Vendor repo's,
    Vendor+Update Testing.

    Then reload the Software Center.

Now my Advance to you will be to run as ROOT User in the terminal this command.
Apply with (Y)to all the Questions in the terminal during the process.

    Code:
      sudo dnf install \*-firmware

Erm... I see the Software Repositories feature you mentioned, but Rosewill and Broadcom are not anywhere to be found. I see stuff for Nvidia (as I have an Nvidia card), but no luck on the other stuff. Should I have done something before this to activate it?

Re: Trying to get Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCE to work on Fedora 30

    Hello mematusz.

First open the Software Repositories window and Enable the Nvidia repositories.
Then you will need to reload the software Center on the tab Updates.
After that there is option that you will get Update for Nvidia.
Now if there will not going to be update,go to the Hardware Drivers tab,
click on that Nvidia image and install that package = that will give you the settings for Nvidia cards
    and acceleration.

    After that reboot your system.

Now when you back again to your Desktop.
Open terminal and call for update/Upgrades with those commands:
one important thing for you to do in between the commands = use -
    Code:
    dnf clean all
and After that use the next command.
so...After we said that, let's go for the Update process.

1 - open terminal as ROOT User , and copy past the command in to the terminal.

    Code:
    dnf --refresh check-update
Apply with (Y) to all,to all the commands.

    2 -
    Code:
    dnf clean all
    3 - next command -
    Code:
    dnf distro-sync
    4 -
    Code:
    dnf clean all
    5 -
    Code:
    dnf update --best --allowerasing

So that process will bring all the Updates to your System - to all the package managers.
when you done with the process reboot your System.
***** I'm kind of sure that you will have new Kernel Update in there.

here you can see that I call for Update for the System - and like you can see there are no Updates:

BUT -----Like I said Before, there are few package manager right?
So on the same time I have reload the Software Center for Updates and there you go:

If you do get Kernel Update....My Advice will be:
After you log in to your Desktop - Open Terminal as ROOT User - and look into your Kernel list with:

    Code:
    sudo dnf list installed kernel
so the high Kernel will stay you will need to remove the old one with this command:

    Code:
    sudo dnf remove kernel*
    - and you need to add the old kernel to the command like this:

    Code:
    sudo dnf remove kernel*5.0.16-300.fc30.x86_64
so for now just follow that Guide and when you done,
you will check what you have there with those commands:
    first Update:
    Code:
    sudo update-pciids
then you can use those commands to have the information that you need.

    1 -
    Code:
    lspci
    2 -
    Code:
    lshw
    3 -
    Code:
    grep
    4 -
    Code:
    update-pciids
    5 -
    Code:
    hardinfo
    6 -
    Code:
    gnome-system-information

I'll get around to this in the next few days (so sorry for delayed responses). I'm a bit puzzled as to why the Nvidia drivers have something to do with this granted that I am looking for Broadcom drivers.

    Hello mematusz.

you want the go around option?fine let's go around for Broadcom drivers.

Enable the vendor repositories in the software center+the vendor test Update.
Then run this command it you will get the Broadcom drivers.

    Code:
    sudo dnf install \*-firmware

https://unix.stackexchange.com/quest...d-in-fedora-27 - These individuals recommend finding a text file and putting it in the appropriate directory. The only problem is that I need the 4360 version of this file because:

    Complete!
    [mematusz@localhost ~]$ lspci | grep Network
05:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 03)
    [mematusz@localhost ~]$ modprobe brcmfmac
    [mematusz@localhost ~]$ lspci -vnn | grep -i net
    00:1f.6 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection (7) I219-V [8086:15bc] (rev 10)

in dnfdragora install that package, and reboot.
when you back to you Desktop, try to update the system and see if you will get Update for the card.
if not , then look in the software center and see if there you get the Drivers that you need to install.

Re: Trying to get Rosewill RNX-AC1900PCE to work on Fedora 30

Hmmm... it seems to work now independently of my PAUO5 USB wifi adapter. However, this is only after a reboot and when I asked it to connect. I'm not sure if this is stable or anything. Will report other results in coming days. I'm sorry this is so periodic, I have this PC at home and I use Fedora when I'm not gaming. I appreciate your efforts, though I should note this is likely not the end of the thread.

EDIT: And this was after I installed the -wl files, too. So maybe that had something to do with it working, maybe not.

    Hello mematusz.

Just so you will know, the " wl " is the kmod support to the kernel.

"The kmod package provides various programs needed for automatic loading and unloading of modules under 2.6, 3.x, and later kernels, as well as other module management programs. Device drivers and filesystems are two examples of loaded and unloaded modules."

Dnfdragora and the consecutive steps you recommended seemed to have resolved the issue. Let's hope this will be true on Fedora 31, as well.
