Gnome-Software: "remote vendor-directory has no cache signature"

    Hi!

    Follow this:

    Open Gnome-Software
Click on the hamburger-menu > "Repository software"
    Enable "Vendor (Automatic)" repository
Go back to gnome-software main window > "Updates" tab > click on the refresh-button
    This message will appear:

It says that "it is impossible to get the list of updates: remote vendor-directory has no cache signature".

    What does it mean?
    What does it entail?
    Why does it happen?
    How to fix it?

    Thank you!
    Jimmy

But I do not use any VPN!
What do you mean by "switch back to you IP"? I haven't done nothing to change it!

ignore the above hogwash which is most likely spam. it's nothing to do with your internet connection, the problem is with the repository. Have you specifically added any additional third-party repositories to Fedora? Also it may be a temporary outage, try again later.

This is the complete list of repos, both enabled ("Attivato") and disabled ("Disattivato"):

I need to check this issue again. I've been away lately.
But: I noticed that I couldn't connect to the eduroam wifi at my university. I have 3 eduroam accounts, all of them are fully functional (I tested them on my phone, and on my laptop too when I had ubuntu a few weeks ago).

    This issue is quite frustrating.
I'll come back here after some more recent tests.

My money is on the Google repository causing the error. It's happened previously for other users, as for the other issue with University WiFi please open another thread in the Networking and Server section. I don't know what to advise but someone will. You'll need to know the type of security used by the networks though, so if you can post the working configuration from an ubuntu session booted from live media it may help

Well but the google repo is disabled.

I can't open a new thread about that issue with eduroam, only because I'm a few thousands km away from the university, so I can't make any check.
I wanted to add that because I thought it might help in understanding the cause of the mess I have, giving the fact that both issues (router crashing & eduroam not working) are correlated.

It is a harmless issue related Linux Vendors Firmware Service repository needed to update firmware device.

Still, it's an issue, although It doesn't compromise my laptop in any way, as far as I know.
I've already disabled that repo, indeed. You surely understand that this is not a solution, though.

Re: Gnome-Software: "remote vendor-directory has no cache signature"

The message simply means the vendor has yet to enable that repository. For example, by default Dell uses LVFS (Linux Vendor Firmware Service) to update their firmware device.
