FC29 doesn't recognise 1TB drive installing Server under ESXi

    Hello,

I've created a new FC29 VM, in ESXi, by for some reason the HD is shown as only a few GB rather than the TB. I allocated.

If I look at the partition I can see it there:
    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]# parted
    GNU Parted 3.2
    Using /dev/sda
Welcome to GNU Parted! Type 'help' to view a list of commands.
    (parted) print
    Model: VMware Virtual disk (scsi)
    Disk /dev/sda: 1100GB
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
    Partition Table: msdos
    Disk Flags:

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
     1 1049kB 1075MB 1074MB primary ext4 boot
     2 1075MB 1100GB 1098GB primary lvm

    It's definitely there:

    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]# fdisk -l
    Disk /dev/sda: 1 TiB, 1099511627776 bytes, 2147483648 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0xa3b8e495

Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
    /dev/sda1 * 2048 2099199 2097152 1G 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 2099200 2147483647 2145384448 1023G 8e Linux LVM

    Disk /dev/mapper/fedora-root: 15 GiB, 16106127360 bytes, 31457280 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

    Disk /dev/mapper/fedora-swap: 2.1 GiB, 2227175424 bytes, 4349952 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

However it seems to have been created as /dev/sda2

When I look at the amount of disc space, it doesn't seem to have been put into the OS:

    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    devtmpfs 983M 0 983M 0% /dev
    tmpfs 997M 0 997M 0% /dev/shm
    tmpfs 997M 1.1M 996M 1% /run
    tmpfs 997M 0 997M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
    /dev/mapper/fedora-root 15G 1.7G 14G 11% /
    tmpfs 997M 4.0K 997M 1% /tmp
    /dev/sda1 976M 126M 784M 14% /boot
    tmpfs 200M 0 200M 0% /run/user/0
    [root@localhost ~]#

It is not being mounted for some reason (although sda1 is):

    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]# mount

The "Review partition" before installing option seems to have been removed from the installer. How can I get the 1TB of storage space I need put into the VM?

    Thanks

I've no idea why the FC29 installer only decides to partition /dev/mapper/fedora-root on / with 16GB. If you manually partition, then select "automatic" you can then adjust the / partition to be 1023MB and then you get the VM you want. Looks like a bug in the installer.

Run pvs, probably your missing hundreds of mb are simply unallocated lvm pv. If so, you can simply extend your / logical volume then resize the filesytem on the lv.
