How to find packages and their time of installation

    Hi friends!

Is there any way one can find a list of apps/programs/packages installed automatically by Fedora itself during and after installation and installed by user as root using dnf install etc commands? Is it possible to list last 5 packages installed by me?

Can I also get the exact time and date when a specific command was run? History command only gives a list of commands that have been executed. Thanks

Use "dnf history" to get a list of transactions, each transaction has the time of the command and a transaction ID, you can then use "dnf history info <tid>" to see the exact packages that the transaction installed/removed/upgraded.

History command only gives a list of commands that have been executed.
    See "man history".
If the HISTTIMEFORMAT variable is set, the time stamp information associated with each history entry is written to the history
file, marked with the history comment character. When the history file is read, lines beginning with the history comment char‐
acter followed immediately by a digit are interpreted as timestamps for the following history entry. The return value is 0
unless an invalid option is encountered, an error occurs while reading or writing the history file, an invalid offset is sup‐
plied as an argument to -d, or the history expansion supplied as an argument to -p fails.
Have a look at this link to see how that's done.

Re: How to find packages and their time of installation

The actual reason for starting thread is the fact that I manually installed some very small useful packages in order to control the brightness of my monitor after the buttons that allow brightness control went stiff. But it looks to me now that I am not really happy with the level or brightness that I am allowed to control via these packages. I want to delete/uninstall them for good, but I am not able to do so. The packages I installed are

    Discrete brightness
    Brightness control (Xrandr)
    Brightness control
    Adjust Brightness icon

I am not able to find their real names in the rpm database. Please have a look at the below link so that you can have a clear idea as what packages I installed. Thanks a lot.

    You could do this:
    Code:
    rpm -qa --qf "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}.%{ARCH}: %{INSTALLTIME:date}\n" | sort > installs.txt
That will put all the installed package names and their last install time in a file called installs.txt.
