Having trouble with partitioning the drive

Hello all! New to this forum.

I'm hoping to install Fedora 29 KDE, but I am running into major partitioning issues.
I only know how to "automatically" set the partition. It looks like Fedora 29 KDE has this setting, but something is very wrong. It keeps giving me errors.
I'm sorry, trying to remember from memory.
I think one has to do with /root, another issue is I have low amount of harddrive space for the distro. I may still have Linux Mint on this HD. I'm trying to delete EVERYTHING on my HD, and let Fedora take it all.
There were a couple times that I think it worked. Fedora installed, said completed!

I reboot, and just see a blank screen with a flashing cursor on the left side. Nothing else.
I understand Linux some, but this partitioning thing, I am a NOOB. I'm a novice, baby level. I only know how to click "auto partition" and install.

Re: Having trouble with partitioning the drive

    hmmmm
I would reinstall from scratch, and where it says to choose your target drive for installation, make sure it's selected (an odd-looking black and white checkmark on the drive icon),
then click continue, then choose "Custom Partitioning",
on the next screen, delete everyting you see on the left, click on it, and then click on [-] , until all the entries are gone.
then select up on top "Standard Partitioning" (LVM will introduce a myriad of complications if you choose it, specially for the untrained)

once that's all empty, then click on [+]
choose from the drop-down in the mini dialog box, [/boot/efi] and type 2000 below it (2GB)., then OK
    then click on [+] again
then choose [swap] from the drop-down and type say 8000 below (8GB) then OK
    then click on [+] again
within that drop-down type a [/] (forward slash) and leave the other field below empty (that will then choose the max available space) then OK

then click on [DONE] up top left, and then the system will do its thing to partition, click OK everywhere , and then back to installation screen, and begin install.
    done

If you have a smartphone or tablet, have this installation guide with screenshots from lifewire open on it while you install Fedora. It will guide you through it step by step including the reclamation of drive space
