minimal mate install

    Windows NT 10.0 Firefox 65.0

    minimal mate install

    I followed inst at
    https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showt...hlight=minimal

    However after login, nothing appears onscreen. help?
    (I have install in virtualbox via netinstall> Fedora custom which is equal to minimal install of say 300 rpms and then i installed
    @base-x mate-panel mate-session-manager marco caja mate-terminal google-droid-*-fonts lightdm firefox mate-media pulseaudio network-manager-applet pluma engrampa). then i did
    systemctl enable lightdm
    ln -sf /usr/lib/systemd/system/runlevel5.target /etc/systemd/system/default.target.

    However, after login, nothing happens

    This sounds like a user configuration of some sort.
    Try creating a second user to see if you are having the same issue.

    I also noticed something similar when the mate-session-manager is not installed correctly. You could also try reinstalling this package.

    One more thing. Are you using the elementary login manager?

    I am using lightdm as stated above.

    i added other user but no progress.
    When in tty2, after login, i put command startx
    It gives error
    xf86enable io ports failed to set IOPL for I/O (operation not permitted)
    The xkeyboard keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports warning unsupported high keycode 372 for name <I372> ignored X11 cannot support keycodes above 255. the warning only shows for the first high keycode. errors from xbcomp are not fatal to the x servers

    problem solved. i took your hint and removed and reinstalled lightdm with
    dnf install lightdm -x elementary-greeter.
    This solved.
    Thanks very much. I will now go further for minimal mate
