I need a version of JabRef that works

    Greetings,

Currently, I am a happy Fedora user, but as a graduate student, I need specific programs to do my research and write papers and articles. I have used JabRef with other distros, but the version in the Fedora repositories seems to be problematic, the Snap package does not install correctly, and I am running it from a jar file, but I am a first year Linux user, and I do not know if that is reliable or not.

I am willing to use different software if anyone has a suggestion or two.

Thank you for putting up with a rookie.

JabRef appears to be a java program so running from the jar is absolutely fine I haven't tried any of them, but KBibTeX and Bibfilex both use the same bibtex file format so they should all be compatible with each other, try them and see how you find them.

    HaydnH,

Thank you. I thought that it would be fine, but it seemed odd; I will try KBibTeX and Bibfilex as well.

    Thank you again!

    Good news, everyone!

The Dev edition Snap is working, and I think that the good folks involved with making that happen to read my Christmas list and answer my prayers! It is 5.0 dev edition, but it will do, and I can fill in the rest with KBibTex and my jar file of the current stable release version.

Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to help me out, and that means you HaydnH. Thank you!
