    No sound from headphone jack after resuming from sleep (F29)

    Hello!

    I have some audio problems with a Clevo N170RD (laptop) and Fedora 29!

    Coming from a fresh boot everything works as expected and the audio switches from the speakers to the jack when I plug my headset.

    However after resuming from sleep I cannot get the headphones jack to output sound. The speakers works great though...

    I've already checked the alsamixer and it seems to recognize when I plug my headphones. It mutes the column "speakers" and unmute the column "headphones" as expected. The volume is at 100% for both. But there is still no sound outputting from the headphones jack...

    Does anybody have an idea?

    Try this script It runs amixer to setup the headphone volume.
    amixer should be installed within your system
    You can trim out the logging of when amixer.sh was executed.

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ $# -ne 0 ]; then
       if [ $1 -gt 0 ]; then
       sleep $1
       fi
    fi
    mkdir /tmp/lock -p
    chmod 1777 /tmp/lock
    iam=$(whoami)
    if [[ "x${iam}" = x ]];
    then
      echo "what"
      out=/tmp/lock/amixer_unknown_today.txt
    else
      out=/tmp/lock/amixer_${iam}_today.txt
    fi
    rm -f $out >/dev/null 2>&1
    touch $out
    chown $iam:$iam $out
    chmod 1777 $out
    echo "$0 $(date)" >>${out}
    AMIXER=$(which amixer)
    ${AMIXER} -c0 set Headphone unmute 100% >>${out} 2>&1
    ${AMIXER} -c1 set Headphone unmute 100% >>${out} 2>&1

    Hello Leslie!
    I tried your script but without success...
    This is what I could see in alsamixer before the script and that I can still see now :

    When headphones are plugged:

    When headphones are UNplugged:
    Click image for larger version.

    I've also tried it with a live ubuntu 18.10 and the problem persists. However the problem is not present on Windows...
    So I guess this could be a bug from the kernel or the audio drivers (I haven't installed anything in particular for my audio to work as it is Intel hardware)...
    Should I maybe try to file a bugreport? I have no idea how I should proceed to be honest...

    UPDATE!!

    After roaming a bit I found that there is a script on github that exists for clevo laptops.
    It is called "init-headphones". There is an rpm for fedora fc25 but luckily it still works on fedora 29.
    I just installed it and now everything works fine!

    I find 'pulseaudio volume control' pretty helpful too, just install "pavucontrol" package and run it. The volume bars will frequently point out problems (channel is muted).
