    Question RPC: Program not registered with NIS commands; Error #-3 in ypserv

    I posted a possible bug but I'm trying to see if anyone thinks it's a configuration issue. Not sure if this would be NIS or other libraries like nfs-utils.

    firewalld is off
    yppasswd is erroring out with:
    Code:
    ourdomain: RPC: Program not registered
    yppasswd: rpcb_getaddr (ourdomain) failed!
    Kernel: 4.19.13-300.fc29.x86_64
    ypserv-4.0-12.20170331git5bfba76.fc29.x86_64
    I downgraded to nfs-utils-2.3.3-0.fc29.x86_64 but still same issues.

    ypserv debug has:
    Code:
    Jan 11 11:43:05 dsm ypserv[21961]: #011ypdb_open("ourdomain", "hosts.byname")
    Jan 11 11:43:05 dsm ypserv[21961]: Found: ourdomain/hosts.byname (8)
    Jan 11 11:43:05 dsm ypserv[21961]: ypdb_close() called
    Jan 11 11:43:05 dsm ypserv[21961]: #011-> Error #-3

    I updated the bug report. First I had to enable/start the yppasswdd service, which I've never had to do before with other NIS installations as it was automatically enabled with ypserv. Then I believe the error 3 is a firewalld-related message, as requests from NFS clients, in this case the NIS slave server, were being blocked, as they were coming in from a range of random ports. I added the IP address of the slave server into the trusted zone of firewalld.
