cleaning up after abortive nvidia driver installation

    Hi,

I had been noticing a few problems with nouveau nvidia driver, so I thought I would try intalling the proprietory driver. This did not work out too well so I decided to revert. However, I still have some cruft hanging around which is causing issues and I can't find out what remove.

    Code:
    glxgears
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 151 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 3 (X_GLXCreateContext)
      Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 23
Current serial number in output stream: 24
    bash-4.4#glxinfo
    name of display: :0.0
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
X Error of failed request: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 151 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 24 (X_GLXCreateNewContext)
      Value in failed request: 0x0
Serial number of failed request: 37
Current serial number in output stream: 38
    bash-4.4#cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep glx
    [ 1467.146] (II) LoadModule: "glx"
    [ 1467.201] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
    [ 1467.240] (II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"
so it looks like I still have the NV version of GLX being sought but no longer there.

    Code:
    ls -ail /var/log/Xorg.0.log
    1580486 -rw-r--r--. 1 root prof 2934 Dec 16 12:53 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
That is shortly after I had tried to install NV and I don't think that file is used by Fedora now. Part of the installation ( and a part which failed ) was to set up dkms for the nv driver, so ....

    Code:
    dnf reinstall xorg-x11-server-Xorg
    rm -rf /var/lib/dkms/nv*
    dnf reinstall kernel-core
other things it has been poking with:
    Code:
    rm -rf /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
    dnf reinstall libglvnd-glx

    rm -rf /lib64/libOpenCL*
    dnf reinstall ocl-icd
but I'm still getting attempts to use NV-GLX, which is no longer there.
    Code:
Xlib: extension "NV-GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
What do I need remove / reinstall to purge these refs to nv stuff ?

    Thanks

    PS:
