    Why so many F29 issues

I've used all Fedora releases for the past ten years. With F28, there used to be about three or four issues per day. In a week, about 25.

I went on a trip where I left all computers at home. In one week I noted 150 new topics posted, mainly with F29. If you consider Gnome and Fedora as being one and the same, therein is your problem.

I switched to KDE and I am very happy with F29. Amongst the 150 postings, I saw only one about KDE and Linux proper.

Gnome is in need of some TLC

As Akithera mentioned, for best Fedora use, stay one release behind.

But the lower number of KDE users must be taken into account.

I think significant factors generating reports of problems is simply the sort of usage users demand of their machines, and a function of the burgeoning complexity of software. If you don't use a complex desktop environment, or only use a window manager, or use a very light desktop environment, there's a lot less software involved and hence, less likelihood of problems and associated reports. My boxes are very light on the desktop and so I can't remember when I last had a desktop environment problem. it seems like the more one demands, the greater one opens oneself to risks, so I guess it becomes a matter of what one is prepared to endure. Although it's just the extent of reports of problems that is being reported here, in other contexts, to complain about it in the free open source context, is probably a bit rich really. Better to file bug reports. To be grateful on the other hand, seems pretty good to me.

I use mate and I don't feel anything changed since 2010, even though I install operating system every release. I hardly have any complaints..

well the fact you've not noticed the massive overhaul MATE has gone through transitioning from GTK+2 to GTK+3 is testament to the work of the maintainers. behind the scenes it has practically been re-coded entirely
