How do I increase the number of boot options before I upgrade to 29

I recently upgraded all of my systems from 26 to 28 and it went fine on all of them. However on my main system there is a minor bug when I boot into 28 where the right shift key doesn't work. Being that is a PITA I boot into 26 as it doesn't have that problem. Today I have upgraded 2 of my systems to 29 and everything went fine.

On my main system I have run the command to download all of the f29 packages. However it just occurred to me the f29 upgrade may not fix that rt shift problem and I could get stuck without an option to boot into a system that doesn't have this problem.

I am looking for a way to configure grub to keep 26 without making it the default even after future 29 updates. Hopefully this makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming this is in X, I would look into seeing if that key could be made to work using some X tools like xmodmap and xev. That would be more preferable to me than keeping a whole installation for that one key. I think using xev to see whether the key has the normal keycode would be my first step.

    Code:
KeyRelease event, serial 40, synthetic NO, window 0x6600001,
        root 0x138, subw 0x0, time 5869990, (925,384), root:(925,413),
        state 0x1, keycode 62 (keysym 0xffe2, Shift_R), same_screen YES,
        XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
        XFilterEvent returns: False
that is a correct looking "Right Shift" as shown in 'xev' (bolded parts should be the same on yours, the other stuff varies by window id, mouse position, etc)
