    Cursor issue

I am using an old Dell Latitude D610 laptop with a centrino processor and running Fedora 28 (i386 version). My cursor is out of control. It slides all over the screen on its own. It makes no difference whether I use the pad or a mouse, I have little control over it. Any suggestions?

    Re: Cursor issue

I have a d620 in service and the touchpad mouse pointer tends to jump around a bit. I had another Latitude d810 with some similar touchpad/mouse related inconsistency. I came to the concusion there is some latent hardware issue with the touchpads used in those model latitudes (or the drivers). I saw problems in both windows (XP) and fedora at various times. I don't recall if I ever used an actual mouse on these machines.

    Kriti and Doug G,
Thank you for responding to my post. I am not running Windows, only Fedora so there is no Device Manager, The only thing that I found that works is letting the computer sit for five minutes after I boot and then I can control the cursor. I wonder if this is a Firefox problem?

    Re: Cursor issue

can you toggle the touchpad on/off in the system settings or better yet with a physical hardware switch or function key combination? if so when using the mouse turn it off and see if that helps. depending on the desktop environment you'll possibly find the option to disable the touchpad when the mouse is detected as plugged in too

    antikythera,
I toggled the touch pad off in Systems Settings and am only using the mouse. It seems to be working.
    Thank you.
