    How to burn ISO to USB?

    I have an ISO image that I would like to burn to a USB and make it bootable. How would I go about doing that?
    I did it on WIndows for Fedora, kept the ISO, but got rid of Windose. How can I make another bootable USB from Fedora?

    I created the following script ( mydd.sh ) which puts a wrapper around the dd utility.

    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    USB='/dev/sdf' #set to your default usb drive, mine is /dev/sdf, yours might be /dev/sdb
    if [[ $# -eq 0  ||  $# -gt 2 ]];
    then
       echo "Use to create Bootable USB. Us as: $(basename $0) Path_to_Linux.iso [/dev/sd?]"
       echo "$(basename $0) path_to_iso/isofile.iso [optional /dev/sdn? ]"
       echo "Default is to /dev/sdf, however user parameter 2 to override "$USB""
       echo " You must be certain that the /dev/sd? is for a flashdrive]"
       echo " If in doubt, use sudo lsblk or gparted"
       exit 1
    fi

    if [ $# -eq 2 ];
    then
       USB=$2
        rc=$(echo "$USB" | /usr/bin/grep -c "/dev/sd")
        echo "Echo rc=$rc"
    #   [ $rc == 1 ] || echo "Wrong flash drive id" && exit 1
    fi

    echo "sudo dd if=$1 of=$USB   bs=8M status=progress oflag=direct,sync"
    sudo dd if=$1 of=$USB   bs=8M status=progress oflag=direct,sync
    Want the minimum then do it manually as:

    Code:
    sudo dd if=inputfile of=output_device, bs=8M && sync

    You might want to try Fedora Media Writer, open a terminal then,, " sudo dnf install mediawriter "
    It's in the repositories, works very well even with alternate distributions live media.
    Easy to use with graphic interface.
    (It's a hobby, but I like it)

    Or Etcher, from the repo...

    Iso Image Writer also does the job and can be found from default repos. I used software center to install it so I don't know it's exact name.

    Re: How to burn ISO to USB?

    Many use dd to burn isos to a usb device. Here is the command: sudo dd if=/path/to/Fedora.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M. The path /dev/sdX should be the path to your USB device. Make sure that this path is correct (use "sudo fdisk -l" to check for paths to your devices), otherwise you could end up harming your data or even your system.

    In the past I have had problems with Fedora Image Writer.

    Here is the Fedora wiki for burning isos to a usb device: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US...age/index.html

    I see Isatenstein has already mentioned dd; sorry for the duplication.

    I just wrote the F29 LXDE Beta ISO to a thumb drive using dd. Be extremely careful with the destination or you'll overwrite something important. The command lsblk told me that the thumb drive is /dev/sdf

    PHP Code:
    sudo dd if=/mnt/iso/linux/Fedora/29/Fedora-LXDE-Live-x86_64-29_Beta/Fedora-LXDE-Live-x86_64-29_Beta-1.5.iso of=/dev/sdf bs=4M status=progress;sync

    It should be better
    Code:
    sudo dd if=file.iso of=/dev/sdb bs=1M;sudo sync;sudo eject /dev/sdb

    you don't need to repeat sudo three times in one command string, the first sudo covers the lot
