    Fedora 28 system cron job not running

    I am trying to setup a system cron job to run every morning. This is not working, I run the rsync command exactly as is in a terminal and works. What am I missing? --Thanks

    $cat /etc/cron.d/fedora-updates-sync

    $ls -lZ /etc/cron.d/fedora-updates-sync
    -rw-r--r--. 1 root root system_u:object_r:system_cron_spool_t:s0 180 Sep 10 13:41 fedora-updates-sync

    Are you using the user crontab or the system crontab.

    do you really want
    sudo crontab -e
    0 2 * * * /usr/bin/rsync -avzq --delete --no-owner --no-group --exclude=debug rsync://repo.atlantic.net/fedora/linux/updates/28/Everything/x86_64 /srv/repos/fedora/updates/28

    write and exit.

    You could test with
    * * * * * Date >>/root/root.msg
    and check that the root.msg file gets a line a minute with the added date.
