Firefox, crashed, no user screen. Why??

I was using Gnome and Firefox to view some emails / forums.
I have my desktop system close to me on the desk, and I noted the fan running hard.
I also have freon, a Gnome extension, and it was telling me that my cpu was at 65C.
Usually, the quad core runs at 46C, and the mother board likewise.
Doing some checking, I noted that a version of Firefox was running
with no display and did not appear to be doing anything.

A simple kill instruction put that zombie session to death

    Virus?? or just a bug.

Probably just a site with some buggy javascript.

The modern Firefox has multiple child processes so that when one goes bad (like yours) it can be killed off without losing everything else.

User error. Please replace user and try again

Hi Ocratato, Yes. I killed the zombie, and then was wondering aloud, virus?? or bad youtube video??.
With my 10 year old system, the MotherBoard and CPU run around 40C. When I watch a youtube, the cpu increases to 50C and beyond.
My graphics card is a dumb one, with little or no rendering. I am using it in hdmi mode. Something is chewing up cpu. The "htop" command appears reasonable. All 4 cpus are active. I can see a task switch

This is why I use UBlock Origin and even Noscript. Noscript is a real pain to use but it sure cuts down on buggy ads and high cpu.
