FC28 - latest dnf upgrade to 4.17.12-200.fc28.x86_64 breaks boot /boot/efi vfat issue

    Hello guys,

apparently the newest update breaks boot.
the /boot/efi partition cannot be mounted, "unknown file system 'vfat'"

first I had the following problem:
    Code:
    Aug 14 20:00:32 doggy systemd[463]: /usr/lib/systemd/system-generators/systemd-gpt-auto-generator failed with exit status 1.
Aug 14 20:04:12 doggy systemd-gpt-auto-generator[481]: Failed to dissect: Input/output error
    I then did this:
    Code:
    vi /etc/default/grub
    added systemd.gpt_auto=0 to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX
    ran grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg
    rebooted
kernel 4.17.12-200 won't boot, it always goes into emergency mode.
The journalctl -xb then gave me a new message, which makes more sense:
    Code:
Aug 14 20:00:34 doggy mount[595]: mount: /boot/efi: unknown filesystem type 'vfat'.

    any ideas ?

    Nothing on bodhi: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/upda...018-ca0e10fc6e

Did you try to rebuild initramfs?

I just did a dnf upgrade

and let it finish, did not see any errors, then typed reboot, and voilla, ze error manifested itself.

EDIT: Booting the older kernel, 4.17.9-200.fc28.x86_64 works, and mount shows:
    Code:
    [root@doggy ~]# mount | grep efi
efivarfs on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars type efivarfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime)
    /dev/mmcblk0p1 on /boot/efi type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0077,dmask=0077,codepage=437,iocharset=ascii,shortname=winnt,errors=remount-ro)

Have had no issues. My system is updated daily. Are you describing Centos or Fedora's dnf

    FC28

just re-upgraded to the latest, and all works again.
    4.17.14-202.fc28.x86_64 #1 SMP

Must have been a fluke upgrade.
