Export-import GNOME shell keybindings (Fedora 28)

    Hi,

On Fedora 28, I'm trying to save and export all keybindings in GNOME and import them on a new installation, and was looking for a keybinding import-export functionality similar to what's found in KDE. I can see several 'custom' keybinding (such as /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/custom-keybindings/custom0... custom1... custom2 etc.) using
    Code:
dconf dump / | grep keybinding
Is there a GUI-based (or simple CLI-based) way to export and import all keybindings?

(I have looked at the following resources:
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/2605...d?noredirect=1
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/6825...oard-shortcuts
    http://catern.com/2014/12/21/plain-t...ion-gnome.html
    https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comme...m_keybindings/

But wanted to ask if there was a different (read more recent, and hopefully, easier) way of doing this. I'd really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

    -------------------------------------
Edit: Answering my own question. (Hopefully this will help someone who, like me, stumbled into GNOME-ville from KDE-town and felt discombobulated.)

    1. Checking paths to custom keybindings in current install:
    Code:
dconf dump / | grep keybinding
All of my custom keybindings were in the following:
    org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings
    org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys

    2. Exporting or making backups of custom keybindings:
To export to .bak files saved in, say ~/Documents, use
    Code:
    dconf dump /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings/ > ~/Documents/wm-keybindings.dconf.bak
    Code:
    dconf dump /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/ > ~/Documents/media-keys-keybindings.dconf.bak

    3. Importing into a fresh install:
Say, the .bak files are under ~/Downloads
    Code:
    dconf load /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings/ < ~/Downloads/wm-keybindings.dconf.bak
    Code:
    dconf load /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/ < ~/Downloads/media-keys-keybindings.dconf.bak

Comment: This works. But I was looking for a simpler, idiot-proof (i.e., me-proof) way, preferably GUI-based. If someone has a better way to do this, then please post below.

Re: Export-import GNOME shell keybindings (Fedora 28)

Answering my own question. (Hopefully this will help someone who, like me, stumbled into GNOME-ville after years of living in KDE-town and felt discombobulated.)

    1. Check paths to where keybindings are stored in GNOME:
dconf dump / | grep keybinding

All of my custom keybindings were in the following to paths:
    /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings
    /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/

    2. Exporting (or making a backup):
To export as .bak files saved in, say ~/Documents, use
    Code:
    dconf dump /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings/ > ~/Documents/wm-keybindings.dconf.bak
    Code:
    dconf dump /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/ > ~/Documents/media-keys-keybindings.dconf.bak
    3. Importing keybindings after a fresh install:

Say, the .bak file is under ~/Docouments
    Code:
    dconf load /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings/ < ~/Documents/wm-keybindings.dconf.bak
    Code:
    dconf load /org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys/ < ~/Documents/media-keys-keybindings.dconf.bak
