I just started dual booting fedora 30 on a 2017 MacBook Air about a month ago. I'm new to Linux. I initially had some WiFi problems even with the broadcom-wl driver but once I installed wpa_supplicant, it's been smooth sailing. It auto-connects and recognizes network login pages for public WiFi. Prior to fedora, I was trying OpenSUSE for a week and I could not get it to connect reliably. I'm glad it has worked out with fedora.
