    Previously working Xerox Unix printer driver quite working

    hello, I've been able to do some minor troubleshoot to this driver in the past, not this time. Like the title says the driver has worked in the past. Downloaded it from the xerox website
    WorkCentre 7830/7835/7845/7855 with built-in controller Support & Drivers. Filename: Xeroxv5Pkg-Linuxx86_64-5.20.626.4179.rpm; Version 5.20.626.4179; Date Jul 2, 2018.
    Driver shows installed and even some commands from the terminal report stuff back as if it is working. However when using the main configuration command "sudo xeroxprtmgr" I get:

    /builddir/build/BUILD/gcc-8.1.1-20180502/obj-x86_64-redhat-linux/x86_64-redhat-linux/libstdc++-v3/include/bits/basic_string.h:3965: std::basic_string<_CharT, _Traits, _Alloc>::reference std::basic_string<_CharT, _Traits, _Alloc>::operator[](std::basic_string<_CharT, _Traits, _Alloc>::size_type) [with _CharT = char; _Traits = std::char_traits<char>; _Alloc = std::allocator<char>; std::basic_string<_CharT, _Traits, _Alloc>::reference = char&; std::basic_string<_CharT, _Traits, _Alloc>::size_type = long unsigned int]: Assertion '__pos <= size()' failed.

    I am running fedora 28 - x64.

    There is a Xerox Unix Printer Driver Readme somewhere out there, but I doubt that would be of much help, it is mostly instructions on how to install, uninstall and a few useful terminal command. I don't know what else to post at the moment that will be helpful to troubleshoot. Thank you very much for any help provided

    The people from xerox help me solve this problem. All it was needed was to use a i686 recent version of the driver. I am so, so glad xerox provides Linux support for their printers that have accounting enabled on their website. Otherwise I would be just another marginalized Linux user unable to use printers at work (school district in this case). Please see this tread if you are interested in the conversation that help solved this minute but crippling issue

    Re: Previously working Xerox Unix printer driver quite working

    I am pleased to read how Xerox supports their hardware. In a similar way I received Brother support. In my case, it was easy.
    Unplug the USB jack from the computer or printer. Turn off the printer and then back on. Do the same for the computer. and then reinsert the USB jack.
    Do a print-test. (I had success with that solution).
