    Elliptic curve or RAS creptograpgy?

Hi. Which is stronger: elliptic curve or RAS 4096 bit encryption method ?

    Best.

At the fundamental level elliptic curve is stronger than RSA in that the same level of security can be reached with a smaller key.

However, what is important is the implementation - you need code that you can trust to not have backdoors or has simply been done badly.
For this reason I would currently go with RSA from a reputable source.

In the longer term we will probably all have to go to elliptic curve since quantum computers will be quite good at cracking RSA.

    Thank you for response.

Regarding implementation, I asked specifically about PGP creation by Enigmail. It give 2 options: RAS & Elliptic curve. So, what is you opinion? Enigmail is front end of GPG. Is GPG trusted for elleptic curve?

I have no opinion on its trustworthiness.

To be sure you would need to get the source code reviewed by trusted cryptographic specialists and then have the build and distribution process audited to ensure that what you are running had not been tampered with.

All this assumes that there is no malicious software on the sender or receiver machines that is intercepting the unencrypted documents.
