Thumbs down Fedora 28 - Broadcom 4322 Wifi Issue after upgrading to kernel 4.17

    Hello,

I recently upgraded Fedora 28 on my Dell Vostro 1520 laptop to kernel 4.17 , and my wireless connections stopped working. However, it works fine under kernel 4.16. It has a Broadcom 4322 card. Kindly help me debug and fix the issue.

lack of akmods would cause the failure to re-install the driver when you upgrade the kernel. best start again with the driver installation and make sure akmods is up and running:

    Code:
    sudo dnf install -y https://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-28.noarch.rpm https://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-28.noarch.rpm
    sudo dnf install -y broadcom-wl kernel-devel
sudo akmods --force --kernel `uname -r` --akmod wl
    sudo modprobe -a wl

lsmod | grep wl reports the driver is loaded:

    #lsmod|grep wl
    wl 6463488 0
    cfg80211 770048 1 wl

After running akmods --force I'm getting no errors, the driver supposedly loads fine with modprobe wl, too.

    #akmods --force
Checking kmods exist for 4.17.4-200.fc28.x86_64 [ OK ]
    #modprobe wl
    #

After loading wl with modprobe I'm getting this error with dmesg, which I believe is linked to my problem:
    [ 17.101676] cfg80211: Loading compiled-in X.509 certificates for regulatory database
    [ 17.102826] cfg80211: Loaded X.509 cert 'sforshee: 00b28ddf47aef9cea7'
[ 17.138079] platform regulatory.0: Direct firmware load for regulatory.db failed with error -2
    [ 17.138084] cfg80211: failed to load regulatory.db

Another user is facing similar issue with his Fedora 28 installation but with different Broadcom adapter:
