R8188EU Wifi adapter makes system to crash since Kernel 4.17

    Hi,
Since I updated my system to latest kernel version my system begun to crash when trying to connect to a WIFI LAN using a Realtek 8188EU USB Adapter. Everything works as expected if I boot using the old 4.16 kernel.

    If I run:
    Code:
    journalctl | grep 'jul 07 12:04'
"jul 07 12:04" is the exact crash moment.

    I get this output:
    Code:

It seems the system keeps in an endless loop related to a scheduling issue.

Any idea about how to solve it? Thank you very much in advance.

[UPDATE] After today's kernel update the system doesn't crash anymore but it's still unable to connect to the WIFI network. Also the log file looks far different:

Now, it seems to be a wpa_supplicant related issue.

what happens if you set up your address manually , i.e. without DHCP ?

also, can you post the output of your "inxi -Fxmz" ?

Thank you very much for your reply. I didn't try it. How can I do it? IP address is defined by the WIFI router, I don't know how to force my computer to use a different address.

    Hello luispa71.

Have install the fedora repository's first to add the 3 party to your system?

    Code:
    dnf install fedora-workstation-repositories
then you can enable the 3 party of the vendor firmware service in the Software Center.
After you have done that, open terminal as root user.

    Code:
    dnf clean all

    Then:

    Code:
    dnf update
**** make sure that you connect Directly to the modem/router with LAN.

hope that will help to get the drivers for your card.

Re: R8188EU Wifi adapter makes system to crash since Kernel 4.17

Thank you very much for your reply. I did what you suggested and the situation improved a lot. Now the system doesn't crash while trying to connect to my WIFI network but the connection still can't be established. The weird thing is I CAN connect to my cell phone if I set it as an AP. So I guess there's something related to the configuration of the WIFI router which kernel 4.17 "doesn't like" and that's not present in my cell phone AP configuration.

This is the log while trying to connect to my home WIFI network (1rst Part):

It seems the issue is related to Michael MIC verification. But I don't know why my phone AP doesn't produce this failure.
