Suddenly my Infra Red RC won't repeat keystrokes?

I've been running Fedora for sometime and currently am on FC28 Mate Spin.

On one specific machine I run mythfrontend as a Media Server, the machine is using a MCE RC6 Infra Red remote with the Kernel drivers that has worked fine exactly how I wanted it to since 2015. I've made no changes to this workstation in a few weeks and it's been working fine.

Today, for some reason holding down a key on the remote is NOT repeating the keys through to mythfrontend or other apps I use with the remote the way it always has worked (for example hold down Volume Up or Down to change volume). Instead only the first keystroke is actioned.

I initially though the problem could be with the remote itself but ir-keytables -v -t shows multiple key sends coming off the remote so it looks like something in X perhaps is 'filtering' the repeat keystrokes.

    I've looked at

    gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.keyboard

and nothing there leaps out as being at fault.

So honestly I'm a little stuck.

Has anyone got any ideas of how I can address this as I'm not sure where to look next.

    my $0.02
I have found that installing (and running) "florence" virtual keyboard, allows you to debug a lot of issues (like stuck caps, etc), give it a try and see if it helps you in some way.
