Stuck at "Starting Switch Root" after upgrading F27 to F28 via terminal

Hello - I started the upgrade from Fedora 27 to Fedora 28 today. It went well, and it looked like the upgrade completed and I rebooted. During reboot, my computer stops at "Starting Switch Root". I have looked for a fix online, but the ones I have found refer to versions much earlier than v28 and I am unsure what the correct fix is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The upgrade instructions I followed are from: https://fedoramagazine.org/upgrading...-27-fedora-28/ under the "Using the command line" heading.

    Thanks - macmuchmore

So I guess this is either a pretty noob question or a fairly difficult one, as no one has responded. I really don't want to do a clean install to fix this - please, if anyone could point me in the direction where to find the correct fix for this, I would appreciate it.

Are you sure it is actually stuck at "Starting Switch Root"? I boot using console display, and since several Fedora releases ago, it will stop printing to the screen at "Starting Swtich Root", but it is actually continuing the boot process. If I just tap the ESC key it will resume printing to screen. Of course, it is very possible that the boot process has halted on your system.

I did not know that - I will try pressing ESC when it stops to see if it resumes. If not, I will post back here. Thank you for the help.
