repo for google chrome no longer working on kickstart file

Hi, I have been making custom isos ever since livemedia-creator came out. I am now getting errors -- and, of course, livemedia-creator stops. These spoke errors are obviously referring to chrome (in my %packages section) and the Google chrome repo.

Here is the repo that I have on my kickstart: repo --name="google-chrome" --baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64

Livemedia-creator throws the error because the repo listed above is no longer valid (can't navigate there with a browser without receiving a 404 error). What I need to solve this is a valid url to download chrome on my kickstart.

    Thanks for your help.

Re: repo for google chrome no longer working on kickstart file

I've been noticing that when I do a "sudo dnf --refresh check-update", the google-chrome repos is conspicuously missing of late. The google-chrome repo file has a "skip_if_unavailable=1" line, so I suppose that prevents dnf from throwing off any error message if it fails. I reinstalled google-chrome from their webpage which installs both google-chrome itself and the repo file to see if there was any change. No, repo file is the same as before.

Changing the baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64 line in the repo file to "https", and then doing a new "sudo dnf --refresh check-update" seems to have done the trick, as the google-chrome repo now appeared in the repos checked.
    Code:
    $ sudo dnf --refresh check-update
    google-chrome 23 kB/s | 3.7 kB 00:00
    RPM Fusion for Fedora 28 - Nonfree - Updates 61 kB/s | 67 kB 00:01

Re: repo for google chrome no longer working on kickstart file

PabloTwo, thanks for your help. I will change http to https to see if that works on the kickstart. If livemedia-creator halts again, I will just remove the google repo from the repo section and chrome from the %package section and will install chrome after I use the custom iso to install Fedora.

Install package 'fedora-workstation-repositories', it has a google-chrome repo now. But I think it's disabled in the package

Interesting to see the "diff" from the online google-chrome installation repo file and the one provided by the fedora-workstation-repositories package. I used "dnf download" to get the package and rpmdev-extract to extract it to within my $HOME directory. url is the same. The https is my edit.
    Code:
    $ diff /etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo Work/fedora-workstation-repositories-28-1.fc28.noarch/etc/yum.repos.d/google-chrome.repo

PabloTwo, I changed http to https and livemedia-creator ran successfully to completion -- without any complaints. I now have Chrome on my new custom Fedora iso.

Re: repo for google chrome no longer working on kickstart file

kkshethin, I will paste the first part of the kickstart and then the last part (generally the sections where the user makes changes)

    First section of xfce-kickstart (flattened):
    Code:
    #version=DEVEL
    # X Window System configuration information
    xconfig --startxonboot
    # Keyboard layouts
    keyboard 'us'
    # Root password
    rootpw --iscrypted --lock locked
    # System language
    lang en_US.UTF-8
    # Shutdown after installation
    shutdown
    # System timezone
    timezone US/Pacific
    # Network information
    network --bootproto=dhcp --device=link --activate
    repo --name=fedora --mirrorlist=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearch

    repo --name="rpmfusionnon-freeupdates" --mirrorlist=http://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/mirrorlist?repo=nonfree-fedora-updates-released-28&arch=x86_64
    repo --name="google-chrome" --baseurl=http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64

    # Use network installation
    url --mirrorlist=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearch

You generally should leave the post sections alone -- unless you want to add files to the live iso.

Note: the major cause of livemedia failure is either you have a program added that doesn't exist or the url of one or more of your repos is wrong or you don't have a repo listed for one or several programs (i.e., you list a non-free program without including the rpmfusion repos). When livemedia-creator throws an error for one of these reasons, it will declare that "spokes are missing" or "spokes are incorrect" or similar.

You should follow the Fedora Livemedia-creator wiki carefully: https://forums.fedoraforum.org/showt...emedia-Creator

You might want to look at one of my forum threads that explains how I was able to create a custom live Iso: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Livem..._use_a_Live_CD
