    Sendmail virtualusertable being ignored

I am using Fedora28. The problem exists on my server, but I am using a Virtualbox VM and reduced configuration for debugging.

What is occurring is, unknown users are being past through. I am sure unknown users were being dropped in the past but am not sure when it started passing them. Perhaps after upgrade to Fedora 28.

    Here is the sendmail.mc file
    Code:
    divert(-1)dnl
    dnl #
dnl # This is the sendmail macro config file for m4. If you make changes to
dnl # /etc/mail/sendmail.mc, you will need to regenerate the
dnl # /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file by confirming that the sendmail-cf package is
dnl # installed and then performing a
    dnl #
    dnl # /etc/mail/make
    dnl #
    include(`/usr/share/sendmail-cf/m4/cf.m4')dnl
    VERSIONID(`setup for linux')dnl
    OSTYPE(`linux')dnl
    DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')dnl
    FEATURE(`virtusertable', `hash -o /etc/mail/virtusertable.db')dnl
    LOCAL_DOMAIN(`localhost.localdomain')dnl
    MAILER(smtp)dnl
    MAILER(procmail)dnl
This is all have in virtusertable
    Code:
    @mydomain.com       error:"550 User unknown"
This command should not show as deliverable.
    Code:
    sendmail -bv user@mydomain.com
user@mydomain.com... deliverable: mailer esmtp, host mydomain.com., user user@mydomain.com
    I did run
    Code:
    makemap hash virtusertable.db < virtusertable
    and make, then restarted sendmail.

What is wrong with my configuration?

    Thank you.

Any chance to install postfix instead ? I have found it much more "works as advertised" than sendmail.

That is an option I will consider. However, that comes with a learning curve.

I need a fix for this while I try Postfix.

    Re: Sendmail virtualusertable being ignored

so you need like an "unknown user > /dev/null" feature.

I am sure I have done this before in sendmail, and maybe looking through my old dox, but don't hold your breath.
    google "sendmail /dev/null unknown users"
    maybe that shall yield something.
    EDIT: like this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...resses-895542/
yeah, now I remember , put at the end of the virtusertable a simple @domain dummyuser
and then link the dummyuser mbox to /dev/null
    maybe that ?

Thank you. I implemented that. It will do till I get postfix running.
