Trying to use virtualization and installing VMs

    [dttb@localhost ~]$ sudo virt-install --name fedoraWEB --memory 2048 --vcpus 1 --disk size=30 --cdrom /var/lib/libvirt/images/Fedora-Server-dvd-x86_64-26-1.5.iso --network default
    I get the message:
WARNING The requested volume capacity will exceed the available pool space when the volume is fully allocated. (30720 M requested capacity > 5732 M available)
ERROR The requested volume capacity will exceed the available pool space when the volume is fully allocated. (30720 M requested capacity > 5732 M available) (Use --check disk_size=off or --check all=off to override)
    [root@localhost dttb]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    devtmpfs 2.9G 0 2.9G 0% /dev
    tmpfs 2.9G 29M 2.9G 1% /dev/shm
    tmpfs 2.9G 2.1M 2.9G 1% /run
    tmpfs 2.9G 0 2.9G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
    /dev/mapper/fedora-root 15G 9.5G 5.6G 63% /
    tmpfs 2.9G 164K 2.9G 1% /tmp
    /dev/sda2 976M 182M 728M 20% /boot
    /dev/sda1 200M 8.8M 192M 5% /boot/efi
    tmpfs 583M 16K 583M 1% /run/user/42
    tmpfs 583M 6.9M 577M 2% /run/user/1000

I'm assuming I need to expand my root I'm just really confused on how I need to allocate the space needed for this operation

Re: Trying to use virtualization and installing VMs

There is no need to place the VMs into the root file system. Just set a symbolic link to the final location.

    Code:
    [root@linux ~]# ls -l /var/lib/libvirt/
    insgesamt 4
    drwx--x--x. 1 root root 0 21. Mär 11:53 boot
    drwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 118 17. Jun 07:56 dnsmasq
    drwx--x--x. 1 root root 0 21. Mär 11:53 filesystems
    lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root  31 21. Mär 11:53 images -> '/media/lvm/vg1-mlvm01/Qemu VMs/'
    drwx------. 1 root root 0 21. Mär 11:53 network
    drwxr-x--x. 1 qemu qemu 62 16. Jun 18:59 qemu
    Best regards,
    Bequimão

His df command shows insufficient room anywhere, he'd need to plug in a usb drive or similar

You are requesting a 30G space to do the install, but the error message says you only have 5G available.

As already stated, you don't have enough space anywhere on your disk for that install.
I see you are using LVM for the root partition. If there is enough unused physical space you can expand the root file system to give enough space to allow what you want to be done. If you do not have enough physical space then the suggestion of adding additional storage capacity is the best.
You might instead create a new logical volume as a dedicated partition for the vm so that updates, etc. do not fill up the space.
