    Fixing tty resolution after installing nvidia drivers

    The tty resolution has changed from native 1920x1080 to something like 1200x800 after going from nouveau to nvidia drivers (negativo). How can I restore native resolution to tty?

    I think it has to do with editing "/etc/default/grub" based on https://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ma...iguration.html

    I tried setting some options such as GRUB_GFXMODE, GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX, GRUB_VIDEO_BACKEND, GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT, but I don't really know what I'm doing. Some changes made no difference, others made the tty native resolution, but also affected the grub menu making it tiny. How do I get back the behavior that existed with the nouveau drivers?

    Code:
    GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
    GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="$(sed 's, release .*$,,g' /etc/system-release)"
    GRUB_DEFAULT=saved
    GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=true
    GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT="console"
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="rd.driver.blacklist=nouveau rd.lvm.lv=beast2/root rd.luks.uuid=luks-73e4b7e8-621f-4c89-b611-b30bdbf58331 rhgb quiet"
    GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true"

    Re: Fixing tty resolution after installing nvidia drivers

    Ok, I have NVidia propetiary driver too. I'ts another distribution but It doesn't matter at the time. I have this config and works:
    Code:
    GRUB_TERMINAL_INPUT=console
    GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT=gfxterm
    GRUB_GFXMODE= ### PUT HERE YOUR NATIVE RESOLUTION, 1920x1080x24 OR 1920x1080x32
    GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
    Remember to update your Grub2 configuration file:
    Code:
    sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
    PS
    Users can create little helper for this - creating executable script in /usr/local/bin/ as update-grub:
    Code:
    #!/bin/bash
    grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

    Re: Fixing tty resolution after installing nvidia drivers

    That config sets both the grub menu and the ttys at the same 1920x1080 resolution. I guess I could live with it, but my goal was to have the grub menu look as it did before: centered on the screen and and a lower resolution around 1200x800. Or at least just centered. If I set GRUB_GFXMODE to a lower resolution, the ttys end up with the same resolution even if I set a different one with GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX.

    Also, I don't have a /boot/grub2/grub.cfg file. I've been using:

    Code:
    sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /etc/grub2-efi.cfg
    That update-grub helper script is not a bad idea. I often forget that command and file.
