    no internet -> SLOW

    I took a computer to use somewhere. WIFI was available but I did not need it for what I was doing.
    I did not bother connecting, then I thought the computer was dying, it was so slow that I cannot describe it.
    I never dreamed that not connecting to WIFI would be an issue.
    Later (when I had time), I tried again but connected to WIFI first (on a plane).
    The computer was fine.

    So if you disconnect a computer from some internet connection (hard wired normally but WIFI sometimes too), do you need to connect to the internet (either way) to get reasonable performance somewhere else????

    VERY surprised and baffled.
