I do not understand why I see double printing.
It can't be starting two instances of Fedora 28 can it?

    Any ideas?

Re: The curious case of double printing on boot F28

    Another curiosity.
I have been aware of the double printing for several weeks. Didn't seem to effect the system any.
However, curiously , after I posted this question the double printing stopped. At least for the last three reboots. I updated the system and a previous problem has reappeared that hangs the system and kicks me out of my log in.
Before whenever it would screen blank from time out I would go back in and find all the programs I was running gone. Had to turn off screen saver.
I checked a few days ago and that problem seemed to be gone. I said okay a bug maybe.
Now that bug is back with only single printing.
Spooky, I fear being hacked and exploited.
I will keep an eye on that print issue. Mind you I didn't change a thing after posting the original post there. I powered down. Came back and booted, single print. Updated and rebooted single prints.
Also it now seems to get lost during boot now.

I used to get that on my AMD Athlon powered system but haven't seen it with Intel hardware before. With the AMD system it was caused by i2x_piix4 being loaded before the AMD sp5100_tco module which caused a resource conflict. I fixed this by adding sp5100_tco to the modules list in the mkinitcpio.conf file so it loaded before i2c_piix4, negating the conflict and as a side effect fixing the double printing. Fedora isn't loading everything twice though despite the screwed up terminal output.

    Thanks.
On other news, I have never been really happy with that mother board. I think I will get a new one and re-build from fresh install. Then see where I am.
I'm looking at upgrading graphics card too.

well, you and your camera could be suffering from a mile case of "too much beer".

that said, I would be hunting for insects and cobwebs inside the electronics....

Perhaps a "Mild Case?" ((Edit) Why the anger? It seems strange.)

Actually I am not happy and never have been with this mother board and dust is a real problem around here because of the freight trains roaring by.
So you tipped my hand. I want a new case with proper dust filters and a newer motherboard.

That being said. Try snapping a picture of a flash of a boot screen with your iPhone one handed! The System boots super fast. Just a blink! People say the M.2 is over priced but it is faster than my SSDs' I boot off the M.2

Also is there a thing as too much beer?

    LOOL good one.
Yeah, I suffered too much of that, until I got a cool Corsair case 570X Crystal, for my new Ryzen:

The main feature I was looking for, which I got, is to have the fans "BLOW INTO" the box through a filter, instead of having fans blow out of the box, which causes the massive fuzz invasion from any open slit. So far it works very good, I have even obviated installing the extra fan I got which goes in the back that "extracts", out of fear it will cause the negative pressure we don't want.
EDIT: on my next "waiting for stuff to happen in the servers" moment, which coincides with a dnf upgrade, I will open it up and video the internals to see if I got any dust in there. If not, then halleluyah, but we shall see.

    Ah, Yes. AMD is evil.
Ryzen 32 core is on my list. Pricey for sure. Around $1000.00 for the new 32 core I read. I'm guessing it will settle in at about $800 ish
I have an 8350 and stuff for "hand me down" in the junk box now. my neighbor is drooling to upgrade from an Athlon. I even have a single fan type water cooler in the junk box he wants bad.
So here we go on the Ryzen Road! Good old 9590 tho.
