    Re: Pictures folder is missing

    You could try the command, as regular user:
    Code:
    $ xdg-user-dirs-update --force
    If that does not recreate the Pictures directory, then just do it manually as suggested in post #7.

    Edit: Just tried that command in my home folder. It recreated the Public and Templates folders that I had removed long ago, so should work for you to recreate the missing Pictures folder.

    Tried you above command as a regular user and rebooted the system. Pictures folder appeared and when I clicked it there was came a message which read "Unable to find the requested file. Please check the spelling and try again", so thanks a lot for getting me this far, I now need the last push, thanks.

    Re: Pictures folder is missing

    All I did was create a folder just by right clicking and selecting new. Then I named it Pictures. All seems to be fine now. Thanks a lot.

    Not fond of the lsb standard directories.

    su -
    cd /etc/xdg/user-dirs.defaults comment out any directories you don't need

    leave root
    /home/username
    cd .config
    edit user-dirs.dirs comment out any directories you don't need

    Don't remove Desktop as it will cause some problems
