    A quick question about set locale

    On a FC 27 machine, how can I set the locale for a user ? (in particular, so that the clock displays the correct language).

    The system-wide language is en_US.utf8:

    Code:
    [cosmo@woodcomputer1 ~]$ su -
    Password:
    [root@woodcomputer1 ~]# locale
    LANG=en_US.utf8
    LC_CTYPE="en_US.utf8"
    LC_NUMERIC="en_US.utf8"
    LC_TIME="en_US.utf8"
    LC_COLLATE="en_US.utf8"
    LC_MONETARY="en_US.utf8"
    LC_MESSAGES="en_US.utf8"
    LC_PAPER="en_US.utf8"
    LC_NAME="en_US.utf8"
    LC_ADDRESS="en_US.utf8"
    LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.utf8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.utf8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.utf8"
    LC_ALL=
    [root@woodcomputer1 ~]# cat /etc/locale.conf
    LANG=en_US.utf8
    However, for a user cosmo, the locale is aa_DJ.utf8
    Code:
    [root@woodcomputer1 ~]# exit
    logout
    [cosmo@woodcomputer1 ~]$ whoami
    cosmo
    [cosmo@woodcomputer1 ~]$ locale
    LANG=aa_DJ.utf8
    LC_CTYPE="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_NUMERIC="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_TIME="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_COLLATE="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_MONETARY="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_MESSAGES="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_PAPER="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_NAME="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_ADDRESS="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_TELEPHONE="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="aa_DJ.utf8"
    LC_ALL=
    even though the users .config/user-dirs.locale is en_US
    Code:
    [cosmo@woodcomputer1 ~]$ cat .config/user-dirs.locale
    en_US

    Re: A quick question about set locale

    This post above, post #1, is virtually the same as post #1 in the following thread which ran on 14/4/2018 where there is a brief discussion:
