    Question interrupted update recovery

    Hi,

    I managed to interrupt a update, now it gives me the following error

    Error: Transaction check error:
    file /usr/share/doc/xz/COPYING from install of xz-5.2.4-2.fc28.x86_64 conflicts with file from package xz-libs-5.2.3-7.fc28.x86_64

    I think I can it can be fixed by booting from a livecd then switching the root partition, I just can't seem to find info on how to do that
    though

    any help is appreciated

    Re: interrupted update recovery

    Rather than rebooting to a livecd, you might try
    Code:
    sudo dnf distro-sync xz-5.2.4
    This command brings together all components of a package to the same revision level.
    From man dnf

    Distro-sync command
    dnf distro-sync [<package-spec>...]
    As necessary upgrades, downgrades or keeps selected installed packages to match the latest version available from any enabled repository. If no package is given, all
    installed packages are considered.

    Re: interrupted update recovery

    thanks for the suggestion but I had no luck with it

    it gave me the following result for xz and xz-libs

    $ sudo dnf distro-sync xz-5.2.4
    Last metadata expiration check: 1:12:54 ago on Tue 15 May 2018 08:48:57 AEST.
    Dependencies resolved.
    Nothing to do.
    Complete!
    $ sudo dnf distro-sync xz-libs-5.2.4
    Last metadata expiration check: 1:13:02 ago on Tue 15 May 2018 08:48:57 AEST.
    Package xz-libs-5.2.4-2.fc28.x86_64 is already installed, skipping.
    Dependencies resolved.
    Nothing to do.
    Complete!

    best regards

    Re: interrupted update recovery

    Sorry about that suggestion.

    You could try doing
    Code:
    sudo dnf install xz --allowerasing
    .

    This should take of the dependency issues with the leftovers from 5.2.3
