Recommendations on wireless hardware for a desktop?

So, I plugged in a TP-Link Archver T2UH that I bought a while ago for just this purpose, only to learn that its Linux support has bitrotted.

What hardware platform should I buy for minimal-fuss 802.11AC 5Ghz wifi access for a desktop?

I've been looking around without much luck; the closest thing I've seen so far is the TP-LINK TL-WDN4800, which is allegedly Atheros-based. Another acceptable option is to perform ethernet bridging, though AC devices are slightly thin on offer there. In general, there is a paucity of conspicuously strong products of any kind: PCI-E, USB, and bridge.

For whatever it's worth, my WiFi platform is Ubiquiti based.

    Thanks in advance.

while it's not ac, I happen to know the TP-Link TL-WDN3800 PCI-E card with dual antenna works fine with ath9k modules and I get a very strong and reliable signal with it.

The TL-WDN4800 you mention also uses the ath9k modules so should work just as well.
