A scratch.txt file I've been using for years with gedit all the sudden cannot be saved because of :
"Could not save the file “/run/media/djl/argentum/scratch.txt” using the “Western (ISO-8859-15)” character encoding."
It used to handle these characters without complaint so to me they fixed something that wasn't broken.
I've gone through and culled the smart quotes and smart dashes that I can find but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. It would be nice if gedit would tell me which characters it objected to.
So the time has come to find a better text editor. Suggestions welcome. Any Notepad++ clones ported to Linux? I use Notepad++ at work.
