    Installed rpm fusion and vlc so why cant i see video?

    Hi I have had to re-install fedora 25 and have installed the rpm fusion free and non free commands via dnf, i also downloaded vlc player, yet when i play a mp4 or avi file i can hear the sound but not see any picture, any ideas why? Thanks in advance!

    Usually the vlc that comes with the initial distribution works fine, so, if you downloaded an updated vlc, that may be problematical. I've found vlc finicky in that way in earlier fedoras. Anyway, the vlc that worked for me on f25 was: vlc-3.0.0-0.28.git20170622.fc25.x86_64, so you could try that one with the corresponding vlc-core package as well of course.

    Hi I can now see video, I had remembered when I installed fedora couple of years ago that I needed to severely decrease the screen resolution. I dont know if this is because the video card isnt good or isnt using propper drivers (most likely since it worked fine with ubuntu) however I am back to the situation I posted about sometime too about how the size of the bars like file menus and internet bookmarks, you see on the various programs and screen use up a lot of space on the monitor. I know how to reduce those now.
