Re: dnfdragora - what and why

I removed yum and reinstalled it, then removed yumex and downloaded and installed it again from the link you provided, but I still get this error when I try to install or update anything.
    Code:
Error in yum Transaction : Invalid version flag: if

Replace yum with dnf. Replace yumex with dnfdragora.

I already have dnf, but I'd rather use yum and yumex, which worked fine in F27, but always gives me an error in F28. I thought by now dnfdragora would be ready for prime time, but it crashed in the middle of some updates yesterday. For now I'll stick to using using dnf in a terminal.

I'm still getting used to dnfdragora, I'm hoping that in time it will be as useful as Synaptic is with Debian.

You can install synaptic in Fedora. In a terminal do:
    Code:
    # dnf install synaptic
You can install apt the same way.

Re: dnfdragora - what and why

Update: It seems that when Dnfdragora crashes, dnf continues to work and finishes the transaction. My clues were that trying to start dnfdragora again gives a message that the dnf backend is in use, and checking processes dnfdaemon-system is still running, sometimes for several minutes. And after one crash it appeared the packages were updated, even though dnfdragora crashed while the packages were downloading. Not 100% sure about this, your results may vary.

Re: dnfdragora - what and why

I installed it and it works very well in F28 (without installing raveit65 repo)
Some pointers, the old yumex might continue to work because yum is now a link to dnf. Yumex is just a gui that calls to yum with various arguments. Dnf has so many options that are exactly the same as yum that what I think is going on is that your yumex is calling dnf.
That might work a lot of the time but eventually you'll hit a mismatch and get an error.
