    An interesting bit of investigation.

    It sort of confirms my view that languages with garbage collectors are dangerous - programmers can easily come to rely on the GC and overlook cases where it needs a bit of assistance.

    This thread prompted me to do some leak tests on my VICI project. Sadly it did leak, but it was a simple fix, and now the interpreter happily shows no sign of leakage. The leak occurred because I moved some code that allocated memory from after a fork call (where it did not need to be deallocated) to prior to the fork call. The move was necessary because allocating memory after a fork call is not safe in a multi-threaded program.

    User error. Please replace user and try again

    So apparently their fix is to kick off the GC after every deletion. Yeah, I am confident that they will fix the performance issues for once and for all. :')
    Tecnically if kicking the GC more often 'fixes' it, it wasn't a memory leak. They should have looked into it deeply earlier probably ...
