    Power on external monitor

    Hi!

    Some basic facts on my setup:

    * F27 with all updates
    * Alienware 15R3, with Nvidia GTX1070 and 387.34 Nvidia drivers.
    * X11 with Gnome
    * External Philips PHL 328P6V monitor via displayport

    I've historically run my laptop with an external 1080p screen over DVI and it's worked perfectly. Having upgraded to the new external monitor, it takes a few seconds to wake up after being put in sleep mode. The challenge is that X11/Gnome/Nvidia/something gives up waiting for the monitor to power up and defaults to using the inbuilt laptop screen. Therefore all of my apps move to the smaller screen, the resolution changes, and the screens mirror instead of span.

    It's really annoying!

    Does anyone know how to alter this timeout?

    TIA.

    An update to my previous post.

    If I wake up the system and allow the monitor to sync before I log in, it all works. I'm therefore assuming the issue is the window manager rather than X or the NVIDIA drivers.

    Any suggestions?

    Re: Power on external monitor

    this thread may shed some light, maybe by adding the ConnectedMonitor option to the xorg.conf (which , if it does not exist, you can use the Nvidia settings to create one).
