FC27 - really sloooooow file download (http) from QEMU guest

Everything seems set up correctly (via a bridge on the host), but the webserver takes a zillion years to serve one file from inside the QEMU guest to the outside world.

here are 2 wgets on the same file from a regular host with external IP, and the QEMU guest:
    Code:
    bash-4.4$ wget http://............../tmp5/test.mp4
    --2018-03-22 17:42:20-- http://.............../tmp5/test.mp4
    Connecting to ..................:80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 1244621295 (1.2G) [video/mp4]
    Saving to: ‘test.mp4’

    test.mp4                               3%[=>                                                                   ]  44.96M  4.60MB/s    eta 8m 26s ^C

    bash-4.4$ wget http://............(qemu)/tmp5/test.mp4
    --2018-03-22 17:42:47-- http://............(qemu)/tmp5/test.mp4
    Connecting to ............(qemu):80... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
    Length: 1244621295 (1.2G) [video/mp4]
    Saving to: ‘test.mp4’

    test.mp4.1 0%[ ] 243.09K 13.3KB/s eta 24h 35m^
Both machines are on the same network.
I have not tested downloading from the HOST which is hosting the QEMU virtual machine yet, but I suspect some configuration issue to be the case.

Anyone has seen this before ?

    Oopaahh,

I changed the NIC on the QEMU guest, from "rtl8139" to "virtio", rebooted the guest, and voilla, works perfect !!!
hardcore, I wonder why the impact is so heavy.
