PProblems with VirtualBox 5.2 on Fedora 27 [Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)]

When I want to start a virtual machine, the program keeps saying:

    Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

    '/sbin/vboxconfig'

    as root.

where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

Take that message VERY literally - you must be root - sudo doesn't work!
    su
    {password}
    yum -y reinstall VirtualBox*.*
    exit

-- some sub-process during install fails to acquire root privileges using sudo. The same thing happened with GoogleEarth some years back.

There were problems setting up VirtualBox. To re-start the set-up process, run
    /sbin/vboxconfig

Apologies - did you use the repo, or build your own installation? My comments pertained to the repo install. In my case, the file I was instructed to run didn't exist because the install process was unable to write it. When I reinstalled using SU, all went well.

As far as the built option, I've no experience with that; I never do that.

I use a script as I ran across this so often. If I downloaded VirtualBox, the script would use:
    /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup
If the repo is used and akmods is installed, the script would use:
    akmods --force
    insmod /usr/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/extra/VirtualBox/vboxdrv.ko
Either would need to be done as root.

I had same problem. I updated kernel but I had to run
    Code:
    sudo yum install kernel-devel
    after it
