[Solved] Sudo, Network, other Net based program - failures

    Hi,

I think the issues I've experiencing are related to having tried kernel-rt from planetccrma.

    http://ccrma.stanford.edu/planetccrm...l-rt-core.html

I have since uninstalled this kernel but any of the previous ones now have the same effect which is a hang on multiple commands and programs. Perhaps it's unrelated but the system seemed ok up until this point and I haven't played with anything else.

The network manager has not loaded and I have no network access. Systemctl indicates the network-wait-for-boot failed but this is the only failed task (so I think the network-manager is hung as well). Su works but sudo hangs. ifconfig -a hangs. Journalctl doesn't show any obvious errors.

I've boot on an emergency sd card so am sure it's not hardware related.

    Any ideas where to start?

    Cheers, Andrew

My 2 cents suspects you're looking at a start over with the install disk. With any luck someone will come up with something easier, but ...

    :-(

I'd rather not, I'm ready to do battle!

The system comes up, but something net related is stalling and I'm unsure how to track it down.

I have chrooted into the system and await orders.

Oh, I hear you - but I suspect kernel installs/updates change many 'associated interfacing files' as well, not just the one kernel file. Here's hoping!

    Solved it!

It was the eth adapter, which I'd used previously on business and then forgot about. There must be a config file somewhere, possibly wrote by NetworkManager and it's trying to initialise it despite it being disconnected.

    Nice! Love the easy ones.
