Fedora 27 documentation in PDF format

    Dear Admin,

I hope this is the right sub-forum for my query, if not, please feel free to move it to the relevant place. Thanks.

    Friends,

Until Fedora 26, I used to download the official documentation in PDF format from the below mentioned URL and read it at my own convenience.

    https://docs-old.fedoraproject.org/en-US/index.html

But, When I tried to download the documentation for the latest Fedora 27, I could not find anything in PDF format. Is it somewhere else now? Thanks.

Re: Fedora 27 documentation in PDF format

Could we cut and paste the ascii doc stuff into a libreoffice writer format. LOwriter can produce PDF files. Yes, it is a detour or circuitious route to take to get a pdf file.

I would be happy to doy a cut-paste into LOwriter, and to generate that PDF. F28 would be the starting point.

I created a cut-paste for a Fedora 28 Release notes. Sample pdf attached.

I am currently editing three documents -release notes, install guide(attached) , and to come, working on the edits for admin guide.
If you want to help, using LO writer, please use the "review" tools to approve or reject my edits. you may also add your changes/ comments.

These changes will be backported to Fedora documentation team.

You are doing a great job for the community, but I would like to know as to how come the documentation for Fedora 27 was never made available in PDF in the 1st place? Thanks.

Re: Fedora 27 documentation in PDF format

The software used for docs is currently asciidoc.
You can download it from the repositories and you can teach yourself all about it from the website.
I am teaching myself this product. My first impressions are it is a "KISS" software. It is a good product, not quite WYSIWYG (what you see is what you gen)
What is missing though are macros (symbolic parameter substitution, and some other features that would require a software that takes an input file and creates asciidoc "input" files.
For example with asciidoc, replacing Rawhide with 28 or 28 with 29. Would need a manual global search and replace.

OK. I got your point, I will make sure that I give it a go whenever time permits. I often teach basic Linux to friends, family and kids around to make sure that I give something back to the global Linux developer community, which has given so much to this world. But I have very limited knowledge of Linux, whatever I know today has come from my own curiosity and generous members of dedicated online Linux forums like yourself. I can not thank you you enough. My only online contribution to the Linux enthusiastics is this blog of mine. Please have a look at it and make suggestions. Thanks a lot again and let me repeat that I am dying to download the official documentation for the latest Fedora 27.
