Fedora 27: Wrong Audio Hardware Listed?

    Hi there,

I am using super old notebook "Compaq Presario F763NR" with Fedora 27 Cinnamon Spin on it. From the picture below, I don't recall see any of those in the past. I shouldn't have any Nvidia Sound Tech with this notebook This notebook has been used with Ubuntu, Linux Mint, and Fedora for the longest time, and I have not seen such the list.

I pulled the list in the picture from VLC 3.0 RC3 menu. I hope someone can help. I don't think Nvidia Driver 304:137 can make any sound either :| My kernel is Linux 4.14.11-300.fc27.x86_64. Where did such the list come from?

I also think my on board sound should be Realtek.

    Thanks.

I have found that installing pavucontrol and running it , under System-> Sound & Video -> Pulseaudio Volume Control
and then selecting from the "Configuration" tab, where you want your sound to come out/in to/from, worked wonders for me.

Just like I remember, I have not seen the word "Nvidia" in the past.

How should I progress this? Is there a bug in ALSA or something? Should I let ALSA know? I have no problem detected with any sound currently, however.

    Thank you.

Everything work since the beginning of the post. I only wonder how VLC 3.0 get the word "Nvidia" on their menu. The same way for ALSA, it has "Nvidia" word shown. I have installed so many Linux distribution on this notebook, only Fedora 27 has the word "Nvidia" used.

I hope you can teach me.

    Thanks.

When I read the manual long time ago, I also saw those terms "Depend on selected model", and I thought there might not be everything they mention. For example, I don't have any web cam and I can only allcatate 128 MBs from RAM to Video. I also have their latest BIOS software installed. But at this point, I am happy I do have HD Audio.
