Firefox keeps adding https and other things to the url

Not really appropriate for here, but I can't think of what to look up or where to go. Firefox keeps adding misc things to my url. For example, some urls get :9090 added to the end. Almost all are forced to https and I can't find a way to turn this "memory" if that's what it is off. So I've converted to Chrome.

    Thanks.

Some anti-virus programs like avast have settings like "Safe browsing" or "Web shield" try disabling those.
Port 9090 is from symantec AFAIK.

You are sure it is not the website itself redirecting. Can you give an example site?

Re: Firefox keeps adding https and other things to the url

Yes, i am sure its not the web site because I am trying to connect to a wordpress site on a local server using an internal ip address. here is what I enter 192.168.10.240 and Firefox adds :9090 and I can't stop it from doing that. Chrome doesn't do it and I can log in just fine with Chrome. It seems that the browser is doing some kind of autofill and I haven't found any way to turn it off. Very annoying. It also does autofill on some user and passwords that are wrong and I can't stop that either. Never fails, developers try to make things easier for the user only to make things more complex and troubling.

What add-ons if any do you have?

I don't know if it's what you need, but here's instructions on how to modify the prefix and suffix Firefox adds during domain guessing.
Registered Linux user #470359 and permanently recovered BOFH.

Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.
