How to get rid of a UEFI boot, or; P50 firmware stage way too long

    Hi there,
By mistake (I assume) I installed my F27 Xfce spin on a brand new Lenovo P50 (M.2 SSD) configured for UEFI boot. Now, I don't know if this boot mode is causing the fact that I have to wait about 15 seconds for the lenovo splash-screen to appear (and prompt for my HD password a bit after that) but I sure think so. Systemd-analyze agrees with me:

    [marc@marchost ~]$ systemd-analyze
    Startup finished in 23.757s (firmware) + 6.247s (loader) + 1.159s (kernel) + 2.918s (initrd) + 3.188s (userspace) = 37.271s

That is way too long for a modern TP boot, my old W540 booted Fedora in less than 10 seconds. The questions here are
    - is UEFI causing this? If yes how can I revert back to old-fashioned BIOS boot
    - is maybe boot order in BIOS causing this?
    - and last but not least - am I the only one seeing this on a P50?

It might be a hardware issue - though the machine performs great once the boot process finished. The funny thing is if I need a reboot, or a shutdown followed by a cold start I don't see that long wait (a few seconds). It's when I shut down the TP, and don't boot up for a couple of hours. Maybe a faulty CMOS battery?

    thanks for any suggestions,

    Marc

In lieu of a shutdown, why not do a suspend? On my laptop, a return from suspend is very quick, and painless. Even a reboot after a return from suspend (because of a new kernel) is pretty fast.

Yes, I was considering this as well, but I prefer a true power off as I travel a lot. Any ideas on UEFI?
