phone or tablet connected via usb cable fail to appear in file system

Phones and tablets connected via a usb cable fail to appear in the file system (nautilus?). They are listed following the lsusb command. Any advice on how to access the devices would be highly appreciated. Kind regards, Inga

    sudo dnf install gvfs-mtp simple-mtpfs
worked fine. Thank you very much.
